I started writing fan fiction in 1998 after I joined the FX:The Series fan forum and learned that the series had been canceled, leaving all the fans hanging with an ending that left a lot of unanswered questions. Along with many other fans, I decided to write my own resolution to the events of the last episode. And so started a hobby that turned into a passion. I have currently written well over 1.5 million words of fanfic, and, though Real Life often gets in the way of my writing time, I don't see myself stopping permanently any time soon.
