Molly Brewster
Age: 28 (at the time of the series premiere)

Molly was born and raised on Hope. When she went off to the University of Washington to study graphic design, her mother, Susan, and her father, Brian, split up. Her mother went to live in New York and has not been back since. Though Molly has maintained a good relationship with her, Mom's new life and career in New York has put distance--not just by virtue of miles--between them. It is with her father that Molly feels more comfortable and has the closer relationship. He needs her, and Molly thrives on that.

After college, Molly came back to Hope to live with her dad and took a job working for Alex's mother at the Widow's Walk. She has no wish to move away from Hope. She is truly an island child. She's been to Seattle and visited her mom in New York, but there could never be anywhere but Hope for her.

She and Alex knew each other as children, and when Alex came back to see her mother through her illness, Molly was a tower of strength for Alex. She totally took over the Widow's Walk. When Alex's mom died and Alex took over, she asked Molly to stay on. Molly was happy to. The Widow's Walk is the heart of the town, and Molly is the town's heart.

Needless to say, there is a limited dating pool on the island. When Kevin Mitchum arrived three years ago, he was much sought after, but Molly eventually won out. Like her father, Kevin needs her. It all works out very well since she needs to be needed. Anxious to marry and have children, she does not push Kevin, because she knows him too well to do that. She knows that pushing him will only push him further away. Instead, she remains patient, thinking that it's just a matter of time until he comes around. She's pretty confident in her belief that they're meant to be together. She sees that Kevin is a good, kind, loyal man--just what she's looking for in a mate and the man who will become the father of her children.

Molly is a peacemaker. She'd have to be with a dad like Brian Brewster. Although she sees the truth about her father, warts and all, she loves him deeply. Brian loves Molly with all his heart, and it is something Molly can feel. She doesn't always know how to get through to her father, but she is not bullied by him like other people are. She stands up to him, but in a kind way. But if he pushes her too far, she will push back. She sees in him a man desperate for respect, a man who, in his heart, feels like he's failed. These are things that no one else sees because he would never allow it. But he does let Molly to see the wounded person in him since he knows that she is always coming from a place of love. When they are alone, and only when they are alone, will we ever see Brian's vulnerable side. They live in their house together, just the two of them, and have for the past 7 years, and they are a family. Brian has always shown Molly his sensitive side, which makes Molly feel special.

Molly is selfless, but not a fool. She's a natural storyteller, a gift she inherited from her father. But while her dad uses it to fool people, she uses it to help them.
